Our commitment
Haven Blessings is preparing to support individuals with disabilities, and we believe our website should reflect the same respect and inclusion. We are committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, whatever their abilities or the technology they use.
Our accessibility goal
We aim to align this website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This is a goal and an ongoing effort. The website has not been formally audited or certified, and we do not claim full conformance.
Accessibility features
This website has been designed and built with the following features:
- Semantic page structure with a logical heading order and clearly labeled regions.
- A “Skip to main content” link at the top of every page.
- Full keyboard access to navigation menus, links, and expandable questions.
- Clearly visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
- Text and background colors chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements.
- Body text set in Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute to improve legibility for readers with low vision.
- Layouts that adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops, and that support browser zoom and larger text.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Descriptive link text and page titles.
- Gentle animations that are turned off when your device is set to reduce motion.
- No autoplaying audio or video, time limits, pop-ups, or CAPTCHA challenges.
How we test
Our testing includes:
- Automated accessibility checks using axe-core and Google Lighthouse.
- Manual keyboard-only navigation of menus and interactive elements.
- Reviews at mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes, including checks for horizontal scrolling.
- Checks with reduced-motion settings enabled.
Automated tools cannot find every barrier, so we welcome feedback from the people who use our site.
Known limitations
- At present, email is the only way to contact us. We recognize that this may not work for everyone, and a public phone number is not yet available.
- Some pages link to external websites that we do not control. Their accessibility may differ from ours.
- Photographs of our home are not yet available. Placeholder panels are used in the gallery, and each is described in text.
